VERANTWOORDE NIEUWJAARSCOCKTAIL

Geachte [naam],

Graag nodig ik u uit voor onze traditionele Nieuwjaarscocktail op 27 januari om 17.00 uur. Een verantwoorde borrel dit keer. Omdat we er niet meer zomaar op los kunnen leven anno 2012, zonder verantwoordelijkheid te dragen voor de dingen om ons heen. Niet dat zulks de pret bederft. Het leven vieren is immers geen schande. Misschien wordt het zelfs meer de moeite waard als we dat op bewuste wijze doen. Dit jaar hebben wij dan ook een aantal geestprikkelende verrassingen voor u in petto.

Om u nu al in de juiste stemming te brengen en tot nadenken aan te zetten treft u hieronder alvast een toelichting op de vier belangrijkste pijlers onder het programma.

INHOUDELIJKE VERANTWOORDELIJKHEID

Organisatie- en communicatiebureau Timp & Meltzer BV

Voor de creatie van vorm en inhoud van de cocktail zijn wij dit jaar een samenwerking aangegaan met organisatie- en communicatiebureau Timp & Meltzer BV. Toonaangevend op het gebied van marketing & business events. Binnen het thema ‘verantwoordelijkheid’ hebben zij samen met ons een bijzonder programma voor u samengesteld. Waarbij geheel conform de visie van dit bureau verantwoordelijkheid is genomen om niet voor de makkelijkste of kortste weg te gaan! Met die werkwijze worden door Timp & Meltzer altijd zaken gecombineerd die mensen alert houden, of zelfs wakker schudden. Behoorlijk confronterend soms. Maar altijd met een creatieve knipoog en de nodige humor. Zeker op onze Nieuwjaarscocktail waar het naast inhoudelijk verantwoord, vooral ook leuk en gezellig moet zijn.

VERANTWOORDELIJKHEID HEBBEN OF NEMEN?

Vermogensbeheerder Kees de Kort

Vermogensbeheerder Kees de Kort herkent u meteen als hij het woord neemt. Zijn stem is bekend van BNR Nieuwsradio waar hij ongezouten zijn mening geeft over al wat hem niet zint. En dat is nogal wat. "Heel wat mensen hebben verantwoordelijkheid in hun baan", zegt hij, "maar heel weinig nemen die verantwoordelijkheid ook daadwerkelijk. Neem nou Nout Wellink; hij moest toezicht houden op de banken, maar ondernam niets toen het mis ging". Of wat te denken van de woekerpolis? Maar vlak ook de eigen verantwoordelijkheid niet uit. We sloten met z’n allen maar wat graag die torenhoge hypotheek af. En toen dat mis ging, gaven we iedereen de schuld, behalve onszelf. Zin om ook een standje te krijgen? Kom naar de Nieuwjaarscocktail!

LUCHTIG OMGAAN MET REGELS

Steven Becker en Guy van Son

Steven Becker en Guy van Son zijn gezagvoerders bij resp. KLM en Transavia. Daarnaast zijn ze instructeurs en examinatoren. Mannen die anderen de dingen leren dus. Maar betekent dit dat ze hen leren om zich precies aan de regeltjes te houden? Nee dus. In hun voordracht komen dingen aan de orde als ‘creatief met regels omgaan’, het hanteren van een ‘blauw handboek met een grijze kaft’ en ‘een checklist is er niet om je achter te verschuilen’.
Becker: "Als we ons in de luchtvaart voor 100% strikt aan alle regels houden, vertrekt er nooit een vliegtuig". Geen nood. Hij legt uit waarom u toch best met gerust hart aan boord kunt.

EEN OLYMPISCH GOUDEN HART

Shorttrack schaatser Monique Velzeboer

Shorttrack schaatser Monique Velzeboer won ooit goud, zilver en brons tijdens de Olympische Spelen. Tijdens een training daarna kwam ze ten val, liep een dwarslaesie op en kwam in een rolstoel terecht. Sindsdien heeft ze zich toegelegd op fotografie met een missie. Overal ter wereld fotografeert ze gehandicapte kinderen en zet ze haar werk in voor het goede doel: haar eigen Monique Velzeboer Foundation. De verkoop van haar foto’s, kalenders en kaarten komt geheel ten goede aan het Liliane Fonds. Haar motto is ‘eerst het kind zien en dan pas de handicap’. Opdat onze eerste blik op het kind niet wordt vertroebeld door medelijden of welke emotie dan ook. Het gaat om het kind. Of dat nou gehandicapt is of niet. Haar werk zal tijdens de Nieuwjaarscocktail te zien zijn.

A RESPONSIBLE NEW YEAR'S SOCIABLE

It is my pleasure to invite you to our traditional New Year's Cocktail, which will take place on January 27 at 5 p.m. This year, we are planning a responsible cocktail. The fact of the matter is that simply living the grand life, without bearing responsibility for the world around us, is no longer an option in 2012. It is not, however, as if this should spoil all the fun - after all, there is no shame in celebrating life. In fact, celebrating life may become all the more worthwhile if we do so in a conscious and mindful fashion. That is why this year, we have a number of thought-provoking surprises in store for you.

Below you will find a brief summary of the four main pillars of support for the evening's programme - a bit of a warm-up to get you in the right mood and to set your mind in motion.

This year, we have joined efforts with Timp & Meltzer Organisation and Communication Agency for creation of form and content. A true authority in the field of marketing & business events, they linked up with us and compiled an extraordinary programme for you. In keeping with their professional outlook, they have assumed responsibility of not opting for quick and easy solutions! Their working approach ensures that Timp & Meltzer keep combining items that keep people on their toes, or even jolt them from their slumber. Sure enough, this can be quite confronting. Nonetheless, they never fail to incorporate a playfully creative touch and a welcome sprinkle of humour. Particularly so for our New Year's Cocktail, which we intend to be intrinsically responsible, but even more importantly, to be fun and entertaining as well!

TO HAVE RESPONSIBILITY, OR TO TAKE IT?

Asset manager Kees de Kort

People recognise asset manager Kees de Kort as soon as he starts to speak. His voice became famous by his BNR News Radio performances, where he dishes out his unvarnished opinion on anything he cannot stand - which is quite a lot, actually. "Although many people have responsibility in their jobs", he claims, "only a tiny minority of those people actually take that responsibility. Take financial watchdog director Nout Wellink, for instance; he was appointed to supervise banks, yet he failed to take action when things went wrong". Another example would be the scandal surrounding equity-linked life insurances. Still, it would be a mistake to gloss over our personal responsibility here. After all, we were all too happy to sign those over-the-top mortgage loans. And when they started to turn bad, we pointed our fingers and blamed everyone except ourselves. Fancy a bit of a personal reprimand? Then visit our New Year's Sociable!

A PLAYFUL APPROACH TO RULES

Steven Becker and Guy van Son are captains in service at KLM and Transavia airlines, respectively. In addition, they both work as instructors and examiners. In other words, they are men who show others the ropes. But does that mean they simply teach people to live by the rules? Far from it. They will be addressing topics such as 'dealing creatively with rules', using a 'blue rulebook with a grey cover', and 'a checklist is not something to hide behind'.
In the words of Becker: "If in aviation we observed the rules 100% of the time, no plane would ever take off". No cause for alarm, though. He will explain why you can nonetheless step aboard without having to fear for your life.

A HEART OF OLYMPIC GOLD

Short-track skater Monique Velzeboer

Short-track skater Monique Velzeboer won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Calgary Olympics. Shortly afterwards, a fall during a training exercise resulted in a spinal cord lesion that forced her into a wheelchair. Since that day, she whole-heartedly applied herself to photography with a mission. All around the world, she portrays disabled children and works for the good cause through her own Monique Velzeboer Foundation. Any sales revenues from her photos, calendars, and postcards are allocated to the Liliane Foundation. Her motto is 'seeing the child before seeing the disability', to prevent our first impression of the child from being blurred by pity or other emotions. It's all about the child - disability or no disability. Her work will be on display during the New Year's Cocktail.
